There isn't clear evidence that chocolate or any specific fatty foods will cause acne. However, there is evidence that a high sugar diet may contribute to overall inflammation and sebum production, which may cause or worsen acne. The exact linkages are still not entirely understood.
In general, we recommend patients with acne eat a healthy diet that is low in refined carbohydrates like sugar. Try to eat a variety of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts/seeds, and healthy proteins.
